1.Swelling

2.Pain

A tonsillectomy is a quick procedure but the pain linked can last for weeks. The pain is generally fixed in the throat area but may stretch into the jaw for a day or two following the surgery.

3.Difficulty in Eating and Swallowing

In the two weeks after surgery you may have discomfort when trying to chew or swallow food. Restricting to a diet of cold items like Jell-O, milkshakes, and ice cream may help until you are able to swallow without severe pain.

4.Bleeding

Blood on your tongue, teeth, lips, or anywhere inside your mouth for a week is common.

5.Warnings

Smoking will worsen the side effects of tonsillectomy. Exercise is prohibited for several days. Spicy foods and acidic fruits can aid to complications and should be avoided for minimum two weeks to cut down the risk of a burning sensation and uneasiness in the throat.
