Gruyere Cheese Ingredients

  • 2/3 lb of Gruyere Cheese
  •  1/3 lb. of cheddar cheese
  •  1 tablespoon of corn starch
  •  2 cups of dry white wine
  •  2 cloves garlic

Gruyere Cheese Preparation Method

Initially blend the cornstarch with half of the wine in a pan on low flame. Add the wine and corn starch mixture until the corn starch dissolves fully.

Bring the mixture to almost boiling and then gently mix the cheese slowly while stirring in between.

Keep stirring the mixture gently in order to enable the cheese melt gradually. Be sure to stir it all through this process to prohibit cheese from getting over cooked.

Use the other cup of dry white wine to dilute the cheese mixture if required. If the cheese is not too thick then don’t add the dry white wine.

After the mixture is entirely melted and is sufficiently thick to wrap a piece of apple or bread the mixture is ready to eat.

Once it is done pour the mixture into a serving pot. You can either use a pot with a candle under it that is specifically made for fondue or you can use any common pretty bowl.

Chop your French bread, fruits and vegetables into small 1.5″ pieces. To serve your fondue, decorate the French bread, vegetable, and fruit pieces nicely on a platter with along with your cheese fondue dish. Use long skewers or forks to eat!

Serving Tips

It is you who has to decide what to dip in your fondue. Some general food choices to dip in cheese fondue are apples, French bread, fruits and vegetables. This fondue recipe leverages the traditional Gruyere cheese that is usually used for fondue.
