Ant Hill Cake Ingredients

  • 1 can of condensed milk for the cream
  • 2 sticks of butter (or about 200 grams) + 1 stick for cream
  • 2 tbsp of water
  • half a tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of baking soda +2-3 spoons of white vinegar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 2 tbsp of sugar
  • walnuts or pecans or poppy seeds (all optional)
  • ¾ cup chocolate sprinkles for the cake and 2 cups for garnishing

Ant Hill Cake Preparation Method

For Dough

For making the dough, mix the butter with the eggs and then blend them together carefully. In it, add 2 spoons of sugar and 2 spoons of water along with 1 tsp of baking soda and 2-3 spoons of white vinegar. Then add to the mixture 2 cups of flour and go on blending them until the dough forms small to medium crumbs. If the batter seems to smooth, add some more flour to it and mix again. Add the chocolate sprinkles now. Now lay out the crumbs on a baking sheet evenly. Now, bake them for almost 10 minutes in an oven preheated to 375 Fahrenheit. After that, set them aside to cool down.

If you do not like the idea of making the dough, you can also make small crumbs out of shortbread cookies.

For the cream

For making the cream, boil the condensed milk for almost an hour or more, if needed. Add 1 stick of butter and one cup of chopped nuts and dried poppy seeds each; however, it is optional. Now mix the crumbs with this cream and give it the shape of a little ant hill. Garnish with chocolate sprinkles spread evenly all over the cake while the cream is still sticky. This will give it a really creepy look, exactly like an ant-hill while the chocolate sprinkles inside the cake will be typically looking like ants.

Refrigerate for about one hour before serving.
