How To Lower Cholesterol

High cholesterol or hypercholesterolemia is a name of a medical complication in which high quantity of a fatty-substance, called cholesterol, mix with the blood of a person and get attached to the walls of arteries. Cholesterol accumulated in the blood makes its flow slow and hence blocks the flow to the heart. Blockage in arteries increases the risk of heart disease and heart attack.

To avoid the risk of heart complication, one should take care of its cholesterol level and try to lower it to live healthy and long life.

One can lower the level of cholesterol in his or her body by following tips in his routine life. They are

  • Take more and more low-cholesterol foods in your diet. Low-cholesterol foods include fruits, vegetable, whole grains or some other natural food items.

    Avoid food that contains high-amount of fats like full cream dairy products, meat, oil, or yolks of eggs. In place of these food items you can take fish, egg whites, and fat-free dairy products. Further, increase the amount of fibers in your diet by taking natural food items.

In addition, there are some vegetables and other natural food items that can help you in maintaining and lower the level of cholesterol in your body.  They are

Garlic: Garlic is the best attribute that you can add in your food to control cholesterol level in your body. One, who cannot eat garlic in his meal, can opt for Kyolic garlic pills to lower the level of cholesterol produced by the liver in the body.

Whole grains and oats: Take high amount of whole grains and oats in your diet to increase amount of fibers which help in thinning the carotid artery walls by removing the plaque from it.
Flax seed: Take flax seeds pills that are available in the medicine shops, selling vitamins pills, to lower the cholesterol in your body. Flax seeds help in lowering the blood pressure and hence lower the cholesterol level in the blood.

Fish oils: Try to include high amount of fish oil in your diet, as it has high omega 3 fatty acids in its composition. Some researches have shown that regular intake of fish and fish oils had declined the level of cholesterol in the blood to a great amount.

Beans and Legumes: Vegetarians can control their cholesterol level by including high amount of vegetables like beans and legumes in their meals. Vegetables like beans contain high amount of fibers which help in controlling the cholesterol level.

Yogurt: Yogurt is the best dairy product which can lower the level of cholesterol in the blood. Yogurt contains high amount of probiotics like Lactobacillus Acidophilus and Lactobacillus Reuteri that lowers the cholesterol level by preventing the re-absorption of cholesterol into the blood.

  • Do exercises and medication regularly as per the recommendation of your doctor. Aerobic activities like walking, running, cycling, and swimming help in shedding off extra fats from your body and hence lower the level of cholesterol in the blood.
  • Try to maintain balanced weight of your body. Extra weight is the main factor behind the high level of cholesterol in the body. Shed off all your extra weight by eating healthy diet and doing exercises regularly.
  • Be punctual with the medicines you take to lower cholesterol level of your body. There are some cases when people who have right weight are still having high level of cholesterol in their blood. So, it is recommended to be regular with the medication prescribed by the doctor.
  • To better eradicate the risk of cholesterol in the body, one should combine the tips given above and starts living a healthy life. Take high-amount of non-fatty food items in your meal and do exercise regularly to keep yourself fit and fine.
