New York State Family Health Plus:
Family Health Care Plus is a public health insurance program for adults aged between 19 to 64 years who do not have health insurance. This group of people has resources that are too high to qualify for Medicaid. Family health care plus is available to single adults, couples without children and parents with limited income, who are residents of New York State, are US citizens or fall under the many migrant categories.
There is no cost to apply for a Family Health Plus and there no deductibles once you are enrolled. You may be asked to pay a fraction of the cost of some medical service, this is your co-pay.
Family Health Plus Coverage:
Family Health Plus allows comprehensive coverage include preventive primary care, hospital services and prescription drugs.
Family health plus coverage also includes regular physician service, regular check-ups,in-patient and out-patient services,lab tests and x-rays, optician and speech services,rehabilitative services, durable medical equipment, emergency and ambulance service,diabetic supplies and equipment,radiation and chemotherapy,,family planning and reproductive health care.
Health care is provided through managed care plans.
Family Health International (FHI) :
Established in 1971 Family Health International (FHI) is a non-profit international public health organization, involved in research and health care activities in more than 70 countries. It caters to the health care needs of the world's most disadvantaged people. They work with a range of partners including government and non-government organizations, research institutes, community groups and the private sector.
Family Health International (FHI) main areas of concern are:
- Prevention and care of HIV/AIDS.
- Safe and effective family planning and access to quality reproductive health care.
- Improve health of women and children in poor nations.
Home Health Care:
Home health care services are provided by a variety of health care professionals in the comfort of your home. Home health care services include skilled nursing care as well as other services like physical and occupational therapy, speech language pathology and also assistance from a home health aide.
The home health staff helps coordinate the care and therapy your doctor prescribes. The home health staff develops a care plan in tune with the doctor's advice, administer it, keep your doctor informed of your progress. They cannot change the care your doctor advises.
Family Health Nursing:
The family Health nursing concept was introduced by the World Health Organization (WHO) Europe as a possible means of developing and strengthening family and community oriented health services. Family Health Nursing was proposed that this nurse would make a significant contribution within a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals to attain the 21 health targets set in the policy.
Family Health Nursing was further proposed that this nurse will help families and individuals to cope with illness and chronic disability in ordinary times of stress by working in the patient's homes and with their families. Such nurses give advice on lifestyle and behavioral risk as well as acquainting families with health matters. Their presence in the homes results in health conditions being treated in their early stages.
They facilitate the early discharge of patients from hospitals by providing nursing care at home. These nurses are the pivotal link between families and physicians and often substituting for doctors when the patients needs are more relevant to nursing expertise.
Bluegrass Family Health Care:
Bluegrass is subsidiary of Baptist Healthcare System. Founded in 1993 it is a community based not for-profit health plan. Their services are available throughout Kentucky. Bluegrass Family Health Care provides comprehensive coverage and operates as an IPA model. They offer fully insured and self-funded services to people through a range of HMO and PPO plans.

The family health portrait protect a personalized health history of your family from any computer with Internet connection. Information you provide creates a chart of your entire family's health history. The chart can be shared by the family and your health care providers. It helps review the family health history and creates preventive measures and strategies to deal with illness.
