Important Information about Prograf

  • Prograf generic name is tacrolimus
  • Prograf is used with other medicines to prevent your body from rejecting a heart, liver, or kidney transplant
  • It must be stored at room temperature and keep away from moisture and heat
  • You are not supposed to take grape fruit or grape fruit juice during this treatment
  • Inform your doctor in advance if you have any kidney disease, liver disease

Side Effects of Prograf are:

  • Pain in the lower back or side
  • Urinating less than usual or not at all
  • Painful urination, blood in your urine
  • Problems with your vision, speech, or coordination
  • Tremor, headache, confusion, numbness or tingly feeling
  • Pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness
  • Fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms
  • Slow heart rate, weak pulse, muscle weakness
  • Tiredness, fast or pounding heartbeat, mild shortness of breath
  • Increased urination, thirst, or hunger

Less serious Prograf side effects may include:

  • Swelling in your hands or feet
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, loss of appetite
  • Sleep problems
  • Itching skin or mild rash
