Important Information about Prevacid


  • Its generic name is Lansoprazole
  • It is used to reduce the amount of acids produced in the stomach
  • It is used to treat and prevent from the stomach and intestinal ulcers
  • Avoid using prevacid if you are also taking sucralfate, also you are not supposed to use prevacid, if you are allergic to lansoprazole
  • Each dose will be taken with the full glass of water and it should be taken before eating
  • Do not crush or open a delayed-release capsule
  • You may also dissolve the medicine from a Prevacid capsule in 2 ounces of apple juice, orange juice, or tomato juice
  • Mix this mixture and drink
  • Overdose of Prevacid will not produce life threatening symptoms

Prevacid side effects include:

  • headache
  • nausea, stomach pain
  • diarrhea
  • constipation
