How to install Windows xp with Windows 7 already installed?
I installed windows xp ages ago and when it restarted it asked for a hardware,i want to cancel it, help?
Description : i installed windows xp ages ago and when it restarted it asked for a hardware or disk or something other than the CD i already have and used, now i installed windows 7 and the same problem still exists, is there a way to cancel the windows xp installation and stop the screen with the "start windows normally" option from showing up? please help
Answer : you can edit what operating system loads by default and change the order around. if you are in windows 7 now right click on computer and select properties then click on advanced windows properties under startup and recovery option select settings It will ask you the default operating system as well as if it gives you a choice to display other operating systems or not. Just set it how you want and then reboot the computer hope this helps =)

Dual Boot Windows XP and Windows 7?
Description : So, the other day, I installed Windows Xp on my PC, which already had Windows 7on it. After that, whenever I booted, it defaulted to Windows Xp, without asking me which Os I wanted to run. So I tried altering the Boot.ini file on Windows Xp, in an attempt to allow me to boot into Windows 7. But, something went wrong, and i lost the ability to boot into either Windows Xp or Windows 7, so I installed Windows Xp again on another partition, in hopes of having the new Boot.ini file from the new installation override the old Boot.ini file. Basically It worked out, and now I can boot into both Windows Xp Installations, but not the Windows 7 installation. Can someone please help me out with this problem? Thanks in advance,
Answer : Windows 7 doesn't use boot.ini anymore. YOu will need to restore the windows 7 boot system. The easiest way is to boot to a Windows 7 DVD, then find an option for "repair my computer", which will attempt to restore the bootloader. This is a tutorial that might help... http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ss/windows-7-startup-repair.htm Another one: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html You shouldn't need to reinstall Windows 7 unless it refuses to repair. Once the boot system is restored, Windows 7 should recognize XP and give you an option to boot to XP when you start up.
I installed windows xp ages ago and when it restarted it asked for a CD to continue,i want to cancel it, help?
Description : installed windows xp ages ago and when it restarted it asked for a hardware or disk or something other than the CD i already have and used, now i installed windows 7 and the same problem still exists, is there a way to cancel the windows xp installation and stop the screen with the "start windows normally" option from showing up? please help. Update: i just went to computer, properties, advanced, start up settings and set it to not show options when the pc boots, now it doesn't even give me a choice to start windows normally, it just continues the installation and i can't do anything but restart the computer "or insert CD"... now i REALLY need help...
Answer : maybe its looking for the drivers cd that came with the computer did you format the drive and install xp or just copy over into a new folder keeping the old xp format the drive install win 7 then install drivers for the mother board, cpu, video, sound, networking and usb ports ect then install software then back up files
Getting windows 7 in a few days.... what to expect during installation?
Description : To be exact, I already have Windows XP Home Edition and have grown tired with it so I've decided to purchase a 64-Bit Windows 7 Home Premium OEM from TigerDirect. My concerns are how to install 7 drivers on already-existing hardware. Here is a list of my hardware: ASUS M3N78 Pro Motherboard AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core CPU x64 6400 2GB DDR2-800 RAM Creative X-Fi Sound Card Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX+ Video Card 250GB and 2 500GB (not in RAID) SATA HDDs Do I obtain 7 drivers for everything BEFORE installing Windows seven or after? And doesn't Windows 7 support driver installation through USB Flash drives?
Answer : I guess this too late but make sure you run a windows 7 compatibility check on your computer to be sure it will even run windows 7 properly. it is a program you download from microsoft to check your system. chances are when you install 7, windows may find some of the drivers on its own for you, after you get it installed, you can transfer the rest of the drivers through a usb flash drive the operating system will allow you the computer to read a usb flash drive right after instalation you will install any drivers that you need to after you finish instalation
Windows 7 installation error?
Description : hi i have spend the last 8 hours trying to do a clean install of windows 7 so here's what i do i pop open my disk tray and i shut down my computer then i put the windows 7 disk on the tray and i turn on the computer i wait till it says press any key to load the CD so i press space and it continues to the setup i click i agree i click custom i click options i click format HDD then i click next copying files 100% expanding files 0% after a minute or so error comes up the CD or file is corrupted bla bla bla i don't know what error code is to give you.so i try the same process like 5 times till i got tired of receiving the same error i know for a fact the their is nothing wrong with my windows 7 CD because the same CD i put on my laptop and did the same exact process and it took me one try to work no errors on my laptop but my desktop gives me that CD corrupt error thing and i don't know what to do my desktop is a Sony vgc-ra840g if you want the specs go to the link http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=VGCRA840G&LOC=3&session_id=2c943e32fd7b72b2e3c94bab5bb76c0c#/howtoTab oh and i already had installed windows 7 on that same desktop like 1 year ago so windows 7 is compatible with my computer and every thing is stock except that i installed a 2gb memory card and a new video card i heard online that windows 7 doesn't install if you have more than 2 GB of memory so now i only have the 1gb that it came with and i also put back the stock video card that it came with and tried the installation but the same error i also went to bios and did everything back to defaults no luck and i also pulled out the bios battery and also no luck one thing i noticed when installing windows 7 to my laptop is when it was expanding files the step 2 of the installation the CD made a continuous noise the CD never slowed down but when i try installing windows 7 on my desktop the CD goes continuously for about 45 sec and slows down and speeds up then slows down does this about 10 times then CD speeds up and i receive the error so i think it might be my CD ROM drive.so i know that the problem is my computer. i should also mention that i took out some hardware stuff the i never used like the floppy disk drive and the thing you plug the wire for internet not the Ethernet the other one where you use the house phone wire to connect it on the back of the computer sorry i wrote so much please please please help me anybody help me. oh and i don't have the original windows xp CD i lost it a long time ago thank you

Description : I was trying to install ubuntu server edition...i already had windows 7 and xp installed, when it asked me to make partitions i foundout that it doesnt detect already existing partitions, so i decided to abort installation,..... After that windows werent even detected and it automaticly booted inserted ubuntu cd (same with win7 cd) Please help meeee Sorry for any mistakes, im writing that on phone
Answer : If you didn't approve any changes to the disk then it won't have made any. Sounds like you've botched the installation somehow. Why would you want to dual boot between a server OS and a client OS anyway? Seems pretty pointless to me. Anyway, you could try using the recovery console on the Windows 7 disk to run the "fixmbr" and "fixboot" commands. That might be all it needs. On the other hand, if you've somehow removed the Windows partitions you may need to put the drive into a working computer and run some file recovery software.
