How to install Windows xp on vista pc?

My software is not compatible with my Vista OS. To use Virtual PC, must I have the XP installation disk?

Description : My Visual Fortran software is not compatible with the Vista OS on my new laptop. I have downloaded and installed Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 in an attempt to simulate either Windows XP or Windows 2000 (my software works on these OS's). But when trying to set it up and use it, it appears that I may need the installation disk for Windows XP (or 2000). Is this true, and if so why do I have Windows Vista in the first place?

Answer : Yes for Virtual PC you need the install disks. As for why you have Vista I can't answer that because I don't know why you got Vista.

How can I resintall windows XP after installing Vista?

Description : I installed a copy of vista on my pc and it has caused it to go haywire. All the drivers on the PC are not compatable to the point where I cannot connect to the internet to update the drivers. The computer is totally stuck. I have tried to re-install windows XP by placing the installation CD in but Vistas program compatability assistant stops it from being installed. Is there anyway I can get round this or how can I wipe the disk to reinstall XP? Any help or links to guides would be greatly appriciated Thanks loads Kris Any other ways I can do it everyone?

Answer : Hi Buddy, If you already have Vista installed on your system you cannot install XP, becuase it is an older version. Delete the Files of Vista and then install XP from the CD. It will get installed once the files of Vista are removed from system. Hope it helps.

If I install Windows Vista RC1 on an XP-Media Center PC, will I lose use of Media Center?

Description : OK, so I have a Media Center PC with Windows XP Media Center Edition, obviously. I'm afraid that if I install the Vista RC1 that the Media Center feature will be lost...since it's integrated into my XP operating system. If, on the other hand, Media Center is a stand-alone application that will carry over onto Vista RC1 after installation, then that's fine. But I don't want to risk it. Please let me know if you have experience with this situation. Many thanks. (And Apple fans, please don't just reply by bashing me for using Vista. I've already heard all 1001 jokes and insults. I just want to try it out before the release).

Answer : It would be the the same thing as if you installed XP Home or Pro, it is a different operating system. You can, however install it on another drive, and you'll have a dual boot system, meaning you will have your choice of which to run. ( Media Center or Vista RC1 ) You need a second hard drive, or a second partition if you only have one hard drive. In short, if you just "install" Vista it will overwrite Media Center.

How to Rollback a Windows XP INCOMPLETE installation?

Description : - I have a Windows Vista installed on my PC - I have one hard disk and only one partition C: - Someone was trying to install XP on it, a boot info for the XP setup was added, so now I see two lines at startup: Windows Vista Windows XP setup. - The XP setup is incomplete and actually its not possible to have XP and Vista on the Same partition C. - The Vista is still working. I don't want the XP but I want to rollback installation of the XP. The record is bugging me and I also wanted to delete any installation file for the XP that was put on my Hard drive. How to rollback the incomplete installation of the XP? (I don't want to reformat the drive).

Answer : You can try to go to start >> run >> type msconfig >> go to boot.ini section >> click on the button to validate the entry section and delete ONLY the windows XP entry.
