How to install Windows xp on vista laptop?
How can I replace Vista operating system on my laptop to Windows XP? I have the XP installation disks.?

Answer : Before you upgrade, be sure to backup all data you want to another computer or secondary hard drive - My Documents, any files on the Desktop, Internet Favourites, or emails if you use Outlook / Outlook Express etc. Another thing - do you have the drivers you need for your laptop? Do not install a new operating system if you do not have the driver CD for your laptop to install afterwards. The driver CD will include software for your display, sound, touchpad, pci-express cards, etc. Once you are sure you are ready, insert the XP CD into the CD drive before you restart the computer. Cancel any on-screen prompts you receive from the autoplay. Restart the laptop. Press ENTER to resume booting from the XP CD. (BIOS must support booting from CD and boot order must be set so CD boots before hard drive - should be default anyway) A blue screen will appear and will install preliminary data. If you need to install RAID drivers press F6, otherwise just wait. Another prompt will appear - press F8 if you agree to the license. Setup will scan for previous operating systems. You want to, first of all, delete the partition that Vista is on. You will need to follow the on-screen prompts at this stage. All the info you need on how to do this is there. (use the up/down keys to select) Once the partition is deleted, you will need to create a new one, onto which you will install XP. Press enter to install on the empty partition. It will ask you to format the disk. It is recommended that you do not choose the "quick NTFS" format - go for the full format. It will take longer, but is more reliable. From here on in, it should be simple enough - just follow the on-screen prompts. I may have missed a few things also, as I'm talking from memory, but make sure you read each screen thoroughly to see all your options.

Can I install Windows XP on my Vista laptop?
Description : I have a Compaq Presario F500 laptop. I bought it 3 years ago with Vista installed. I am so tired of Vista and want to go back to Windows XP, which I had on my previous laptop. If I buy Microsoft Windows XP Home W/SP3 Full Version (DSP/OEM), can this be installed on my laptop? Is it possible to downgrade to XP? This is a brand new XP installation disk. It's not an upgrade disk. It installs the full XP home edition. I know the disk is bootable, but will it work if I want to attempt to install it?
Answer : If it is 3 years old then there will be no issue with XP supporting it. Note that you cannot really downgrade. You will have to format your drive to install the O/S. Make sure you backup anything you need first. I would actually suggesting going to Win7 instead. XP is getting a little long in the tooth and is need of replace. I've use Win7 at home for several months and I'm running a pilot at work for developers. It is far better than Vista and has a lot of features you don't get with XP. It is better than Vista on older hardware also.
