HP Pavilion Windows XP Installation Error?
Description : There was a Windows Vista in my laptop when I bought it. But later I wanted to change the windows into Windows XP. I putted the WinXP CD & run it, during the installation it gave me a error message. I tried to install it from different CDs but couldn't install it. I then run the "FDISK" & deleted all the drives but after that I couldn't install the WinXP. My Laptop Model is HP Pavilion DV6 1053cl, does that only support vista? If I need to install xp would i need to install any drivers like I have saw somebody comments that it came with vista only and in order to install xp you need to burn SATA drivers in xp disc, is that correct? So is there any way which I can apply to install the WinXP on my laptop? Additional Details The disk is copyright. The following message it gives: A problem has been detected & windows have been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Check for virus for your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives Check your hard drive to make you sure it is properly configured & terminated. Run CHKDSK/F to check for hard drive, corruption and then restart your computer technically information etc etc...... Paul Lee: It is still working fine with windows vista installed, and there is no problem at all with any hardware i have check everything including hard drive and they are fine. Only option i can think off is i need to install some driver's so it can be compatible with windows xp before doing installation?

Can I install Windows XP Pro on a laptop with Vista on it already?
Description : I just got a new laptop with Vista on it (HP Pavilion tx 1000). I have to have XP Pro on it instead (I asked when ordering and they said they only load Vista now). I've read alot about doing this and am not sure the best way to go about it. It will void my warranty so I have to make sure to do it right. Also, I don't have an installation disk for XP Pro, just a license number so I'll have to download it. Please PLEASE PLEASE help me! I'm not having problems with vista (though I'm not particularly fond of it). I HAVE to use XP Pro for the school I'm going in to... we use a bunch of advanced programs that aren't compatible with Vista yet. So I'm required to have XP Pro.
Answer : I would suggest making yourself a dualboot machine (to get around your warranty worries). This will give you xp and vista... This is a link to instructions. http://apcmag.com/5485/dualbooting_vista_and_xp
Problem Dual Booting Windows Vista and 2000 or XP?
Description : *I have an HP laptop with two hard disks. *Disk 1 has Vista pre-installed on it. *Disk 2 was blank. I installed Windows 2000 on this disk and my laptop did not recognize the Vista installation. 2000 worked with 16 colors and without internet. *I then reformatted Disk 2 and installed Windows XP, so there is no longer Windows 2000 on the computer. Vista is still not recognized. XP works, but cannot access the internet. *HP provides an HP_RECOVERY partition on Disk 1 in case of system failures, where F11 at the loading screen will supposedly enter HP Recovery. Pressing F11 does not yield any results. *The HP_RECOVERY partition and the Vista installation still exists. *C: OS -- Windows Vista *D: XP -- Windows XP *E: HP_RECOVERY -- HP Recovery So, I have XP and Vista where only XP works, and I want to know how I can access or fix the Vista intallation when I do not have a 'recovery disk', but a 'recovery partition'. Help please? I would like to have Windows Vista on my computer. Please don't give me an answer that tells me to get rid of one based on subjective opinion. If I need to remove an operating system, I'd rather remove XP. Thanks.
Answer : Dump Vista, it was a rush job to meet a deadline and never install the other disk that comes with vista, it will freeze your system
Can i install a XP Media center edition for Gateway on to an HP?

I recently installed window xp pro on my hp laptop but missing drivers?
Description : I installed window xp pro on my hp dv6736 laptop computer that already had window vista on it. I want xp and vista set up as a dual boot system. The installation went fairly ok but when i booted into xp and looked into device manager their were missing drivers. Is it possibe to find those drivers anywhere or is it not possibe to do this. Do anyone have an information that can help me solve this issue.
Answer : Apparently, sir, the HP dv6737 is the beginning of a series of 2 different notebook computers. You'll need to take a look at either the underside of your laptop or the paperwork that came with it to see which one it is you have. Click on the link below, and this will take you directly to the HP (USA) website where you can download the drivers for your machine.
