How to install Windows xp on vista home?
Is there any way I can go to Windows XP if I have Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2?
Description : I have the Windows XP installation CD, but when I pop it in and click install windows xp it says I cant because I have a higher version on my PC than on my computer. I also tried rebooting my PC while the disk was in and nothing worked.
Answer : Reformat your drive and install the XP dinosaur using the installation CD. Better yet, wait until October and upgrade to the new Windows 7.
Can I install Windows XP Home SP2 on a new Dell Inspiron notebook?
Description : I used to have a Dell Inspiron 640m notebook (purchased in 2006) and it came with a Windows XP Home SP2 re-installation CD. My dad has an older Dell Dimension 3000 desktop (purchased in 2005) and I've used the Inspiron installation disc time and time again to re-install Windows XP on the Dimension. When I used the installation disc on another PC (HP Pavilion 8800) I noticed the installation only gives 30 days until you have to call and get a new activation code. This code is different from the product key you see attached to notebooks and desktops. So my question is, if I buy one of the new Dell Inspiron 15 notebooks, could I un-install Windows Vista and install Windows XP using my old Inspiron 640m installation disc? I was thinking that maybe it worked with Dell brand computers without having to enter an activation code. Also, does the Inspiron 15 come with a Vista installation disc in case the XP installation isn't successful? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. No, I know using an installation disc is illegal, but since I own all computers and they're all Dell, I'm asking if I can use the installation disc on a new Inspiron 15 to replace Vista? Because I've noticed that the installation disc works with my Dimension 3000 desktop without a product key; it installs itself automatically with no limitations whatsoever so I was thinking, since it's a Dell, I can use the disc on another Dell.
Answer : You need a specific license key code for each machine you install it on. The key is unique and can not be reused or used on more than one machine at the same time. Example: Your laptop dies and you dig out an old one, you load your OS on there and use the license key since the old is dead and gone. Typically the OS install disc is not included anymore from OEM's. They use it as a way to get an extra $10 - $20 from you. Borrow a disc from a friend if you can and use your license from the sticker on the machine.

Can I rename the folder where windows xp home sp2 is installed? Well, the reason is I would like to try vista.
Description : Can I rename the folder where windows xp home sp2 is installed? Well, the reason is that I would like to try Windows Vista, but the installation said that the previous folder of Windows Home would be renamed to "windows.old.". but i don't wanna lose my WinHome for some reasons... You might say that what if I try to install it to another drive or partition... well, i'm planning to install it to my D: partition bcoz it's the partition i've got with a NTFS format. my other is C:, but i dont wanna lose any files, forums and even the official website of microsoft said that i might want to backup files. another thing is that i've got a win XP pro sp1 on my C partition, well, i don't care if it would be replaced by vista, all i care is my win home........ PLZ..... give me an advice, help, anything!!!! i'm depressed.... i might evolve into an emo monster.... thanks in advance! to rename the windows folder meant not losing any datas, registries and can still run windows xp home sp2. evrythings possible in virtual reality, right?
Answer : I suggest that you leave it alone and don't install Vista on your computer. Windows XP is better than Vista in many ways, including speed and compatibility with various hardware devices and software applications. The only real advantage Vista has going for it is better security and perhaps better looks. I've bought a new computer with factory installed Vista. And I've had an awful time trying to get some of my add-ons to work with it. My new Canon-photo-printer doesn't work with it. And my Motorola mobile phone software cannot set up an internet connection with Vista the way it's supposed to.
Can anyone help with installation of windows XP?
Description : I've a HP Pavilion a6123in Desktop PC, which came with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic. I've also installed Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate on my system. But i can't install Microsoft Windows XP on it. I think the problem is with my hard disk compatibility. Can anyone help me with this issue?
Answer : Your PC has a SATA disk which cannot be seen by XP/2003 CDs when they boot up. You can change the SATA mode from AHCI to legacy and then install XP. Or you can use nlite but that may be hard for you. See the video i have mentioned and give me full points
