Brad M Kelley is better known as the 250th richest man on Earth. He owes his riches to the fact that he is ranked 4th in the list of largest land owners of the USA. Brad Kelly’s estimated net worth is about $1.9 billion as of 2012.
Born in the year 1957 in Franklin, Kentucky, Brad M Kelley was the son of a farmer. He demonstrated leadership skills right from his high school days where he was voted as the secretary of the Future Farmers of America and also belonged to the Who's Who Among American High School Students. From his teen years he was interested in acquiring farm land and became the owner of his first piece at the age of 17. Due to his entrepreneurial inclinations, he could never graduate with a University degree, though he gave it a hard try 4 times over.
In the early years of his business life Brad ventured into tobacco trade taking advantage of the recession in the industry. He bought some vacant and old warehouses, modified them and leased them out to other industries. It was during one of these conversions that he stumbled on old cigarette making machines which were in good condition. Using these he started making discounted cigarettes and thus was founded the Commonwealth Brand in the year 1991 which made him rich and famous. Brad ran a roaring tobacco business for about a decade and then sold it for a whopping $ 1 billion to Houchens Industries in 2001.
Through his earnings throughout the decade, Brad purchased large tracts of land and today he owns close to 1.7million acres of land in the USA. He also owns a number of ranches and prize winning stallions, which enhance his net worth. He is the member and owner of many derby teams.
Brad Kelley, who himself has never smoked says that he does not support smoking as it is injurious to health and hopes that it becomes a thing of the past sooner than later. Today he is an active conservationist and works for the conservation of endangered species of animals by reserving a part of his ranches for the purpose.
Today, Brad is 56 years old, married and lives in his primary residence in Tennessee, a suburban dwelling of Nashville with his wife and three children. He is reputed as a recluse to the extent that he does not even use email and refuses any interviews.Readmore...
