Tatparanandam Ananda Krishnan‚ known as Ananda Krishnan (or TAK) more popularly‚ holds the 89th rank in the Forbes list of world Top billionaires. He is of Sri Lankan-Tamil origin‚ and started as an oil trader in the early days of his career. His net worth is estimated to be about $7.6 billion. He is also the third wealthiest man in Southeast Asia after Robert Kuok and Ng Teng Fong.
His most prominent company is the Maxis Communications which is the largest cell phone service provider in Malaysia having more than 11 million subscribers and 40% market share in Malaysia. Recently‚ Maxis has taken over Aircel which is the largest cellular service provider in Tamil Nadu. Expectations are that‚ this is going to spread quickly to other parts of India too.
