Under new federal regulations, those transporting hazardous materials on the job have to undergo a background check and also get fingerprinted. This is to protect regular citizens from potential terrorist threats. If you get disqualified, there is an appeals process. Some of the reasons for disqualification could be crimes related to murder, arson, robbery, kidnapping and others.
