The Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards were established by Kanya King MBE and Andy Ruffell in 1996. The MOBO award ceremony is celebrated every year in UK to recognize and support artists of any ethnicity or nationality performing black music or urban music. The MOBO organization is established to support and in seeking out the UK’s most exciting Gospel Talent.

MOBO is dedicated to provide a platform to the upcoming and more established Gospel artists to shine on and gives them the most needed breakthrough and assists in their musical careers.

Venue of the event:

Since its launch in 1996, every year the award ceremony was held in London. In 2009, for the first time in MOBO history the awards were held in the city of Glasgow in Scotland. In 2016, the MOBO awards will take place in November at Scotland.

Award Categories:

The outstanding achievements of artists who perform music in genres ranging from Gospel, Jazz, R&B, Soul, Reggae to Hip Hop will receive the awards accordingly.
