The Great Wall Marathon
The Great Wall Marathon of 10km & 5km is on 16th May 2009 on the Great Wall of China. From this great wall marathon we can get an absolutely extraordinary experience of the tough and attractive ways of the Great Wall of China. The Great Wall of China’s 5164 steps and the wonderful surroundings of Tianjin Province will grip the attention of the Runners.
The 9th great wall marathon 2008 has been an unforgettable day for all participants, staff and organizers who have been a part of this 2008 marathon event. The Great Wall Marathon is the legendary race which keeps attracting more participants every year and in 2008 there were over 49 countries and more than 1700 participants who conquered the wall in the four distances: Marathon, Half Marathon, 5k, 10 km. A 37 year old Mexican Romualdo Sanchez Garita has set the new records with (3:18:48).
Victoria White from Great Britain was the first runner to get a medal in the great wall marathon where she took 38 minutes and 54 seconds to climb 5 kilometers of ups and downs of the Great Wall of China. And the second runner up was Bodo Manfred Zeug from Germany (0:46:30) is the winner of 5k run. American Andrew Dorobek was the first winner of half marathon.
