The Canadian Country Music Association was set up in 1976 to ensure that the industry grows and prospers. The aim is to organize, develop and promote country music in Canada.
It was originally named as the Academy of Country Music Entertainment and formally set up in September 1976. 1982 was a seminal year when the Country Music Awards were inaugurated.
