Juno Awards were established in year 1970, though earlier the name of Juno Awards was Juneau Awards, but in year 1971, this name was shortened to Juno. Earlier these awards were known by the name of Gold Leaf awards (1964-1969). Juno awards gain popularity in 1975 when it was first broadcasted on Television (CBC Television). These awards are categorized as one of the most popular music awards for Canadians. And every year these awards are travelling from one Canadian city to another. These awards are given to Canadian Musical Artists and Bands for their Musical achievement. Winners are judged and chosen by the members of Canadian Academy of Arts and Science. In Year 2006, these awards was first time telecasted on International channel MTV2.

There were only 16 categories when the awards were started in 1964, which now rises up to 38 categories. Earlier these awards were conducted in starting months of the year, which changes in 1984, due to postponed of awards by organizers. In 1988, again the Juno Award was conducted in January as CARAS noted the declining viewership on Juno Broadcast.

Toronto is always considered as the major location for Juno Awards, even Juno Awards was held only in Toronto until 1991, when Vancouver becomes the first region after Toronto to host Juno Awards. These Awards are not only popular in Canada, but also have their name in World Music thanks to the efforts made by the organizing committee for its popularity and telecasting. Juno Awards was last organized in year 2009 March 26- 29. Juno Awards were held in Vancouver. In these artists are awarded on their performance based on year 2007 and 2008.
